Children & Youth Ministries

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14
Children’s Church
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, our church holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. For 45 minutes to an hour, children sing songs, play games, do arts and crafts, hear a Bible story and work on Bible verse memorization. We use a wonderful curriculum which investigates one Bible story and one verse in several different ways throughout the month. By the end of the month, children have learned not only how to memorize the verse, but also the importance of that verse and story to their own lives!

This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.  Of course, children are also ALWAYS welcome in our worship services, but Children’s Church is available for those who want to go!

Events for Children
EUMC offers special events for children throughout the year. From Vacation Bible School every summer to Christ-centered celebrations at Easter and Christmas, we offer opportunities to teach children about God’s love in a fun, safe environment.

Youth Ministry

Each week our youth group gathers on Sunday afternoons (4:45 p.m.) to participate in Bible Study and fellowship. Our youth contribute through service opportunities and learn to make Christ the center of their lives as they become young adults. There is always something going on – retreats, concert trips, mission projects, fund raisers, and so much more! Each year they attend Winter Blitz, a weekend youth festival in Louisville and summer camp experiences are available through our Kentucky Conference youth camps.

Volunteering
The children and youth programs are run by volunteers and we need your help! If you are willing to provide just a few hours each month in fellowship with other volunteers and children, please let us know. Our church participates in the SAFE SANCTUARY program, which means all volunteers with children and youth must be active in the church for 6 months prior to volunteering and submit to a criminal background check. For more information on how to volunteer, please contact the church office at office1@erlangerumc.org.
