Dr. Robert Hemfelt, Dr. Frank Minrith, and Dr. Paul Meier.

Are things upside down in your life?  Trying to fix someone else?  Trying to please everyone and still feel guilty?   This book is just the thing for people who are trying to break through a cycle of co-dependency in their relationships.  It is a specifically Christian perspective on healthy relationships and discovering how to love yourself and others.

FORGIVING THE UNFORGIVABLE

Dr. David Stoop

Even though we are forgiven by God as Christians, it’s often hard for us to forgive others.  Only with God’s grace can we take part in forgiveness when events cause lifelong wounds and trauma to us.   Yet God desires us to experience the release that forgiveness brings.  This book will help you find that release.  Forgiving doesn't mean what the other person did is okay.  It means we don't want the event to eat us up  inside forever.  Its a topic that everyone struggles with and this book will help.

DON’T LET JERKS GET THE BEST OF YOU

Dr. Paul Meier

If  you feel like people walk all over you or take advantage of you, this is a good book for you.  There are jerks all around us.  This book will help you understand them better. More than that, though, it helps you understand YOU better, how you get caught in the crossfire of unkind people, and how to get out from under the jerks in your life.

WHO STOLE MY CHURCH

Many churches struggle with transitions between new ways and old ways.  It’s hard to let go of the way things have always been, especially when that’s they way we like it!  This book helps us in that struggle, and helps us understand that there’s a place for everyone in God’s house!

A TALE OF TWO SONS

John MacArthur

This is a Bible study on the story of the Prodigal Son which will open up this parable to you in many new ways.    Who would have thought that a story told thosuands of years ago could speak to family and faith  today.  Yet this story does.

MAX ON LIFE

Max Lucado

Rev. Lucado has many good books out which will stir your heart.  This is a book of questions Rev. THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS

C. S. Lewis

This is a very interesting story set in the time of World War II.  It is a series of letters that Satan writes to his little arc-angels about how to tempt humans away from God.  It holds many wonderful lessons of faith and life for today in our struggle to be the people God wants us to be.  (This is available as a free download from the Kindle Store.)

MERE CHRISTIANITY

C. S. Lewis

If you want to think through the Christian faith in a serious way, this is the book for you.  C. S. THE OTHER SIDE OF SUFFERING

John Ramsey

This is an intensely personal story, an autobiography of the father of Jon-Bennet Ramsey and his struggle through the years of grief and pain surrounding the murder of his daughter and the loss of his wife.   It is an amazingly hopeful book about how God carries us through even the darkest valley.

THE VOW

Kim and Krickitt Carpenter

This is the book that inspired the major motion picture by the same name.  The story in the book is very different than the movie's plot, but the story of commitment and persistence and love is very powerful in both.  The book is specifically Christian in nature (which the movie was not).  It is a true story and a powerful story of God’s love and hope in the midst of very discouraging situations.

BOUNDARIES

Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend

This book helps you focus on how to be loving and giving but still have limits to what you can expect of yourself and what others can expect of you.  If you feel guilty when someone asks you to do something because you need to say no but don’t know how to, this book is good for you!  It helps with physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of living, our human nature and not being able to do everything, and how to accept and embrace our humanity and be the people God wants us to be.
